Team Fitness

Client Shout out for October!

Lori has trained with us over the past year & is a pleasure to work with! She has acheived many of her goals she set for herself when coming into our program. She has lost over 30lbs and 24 inches, ran a full marathon, went white water rafting for the first time and went hiking every opportunity she could find this past summer.

Her hugest fitness accomplishment was running the Edge to Edge Marathon in Tofino, BC running 26.2 miles. Lori had her best bud Shari Fleming by her side in training and during the race. The loop went from Tofino to the Pacific Rim to Ucluelet.

Lori has gained so much knowledge and body awareness over this past year. She is able to be more aware in her current job to ensure she doesn’t put unnecessary strain onto her body when lifting.

What are her next plans? Well…another race & keeping up with her healthy lifestyle, Hiking Trans Canada Trail, Kayaking Broken Group Islands, Hike Wells Grey Park hut to hut Adventure and Canoeing Bowron Lakes.

‘They’ say you’ll have 7 careers before your days are up. If they are all in the same industry does that count? Fitness instructor, fitness director, general manager, business owner, exercise specialist, personal trainer, lifestyle coach. As careers go fitness is all I’ve ever done.
I am not a scientist, a geneticist or a psychologist, but I have been in the health and fitness industry all my adult life. I do have a degree in exercise science and although it was the foundation in launching my career, experience as a competitive athlete, single parent, business owner, and most importantly, working with hundreds of women just like you over the last two decades has given me more insight into healthy living behaviour than any textbook. So I guess that makes me somewhat of a behaviourist. And perhaps it gives me a little clout to speak on the topic of healthy living.
Welcome to Madeleine’s newest section. Before we jump into my sage advice, let me say that my goal is to provide Madeleine readers with, inspiration, education and validation for a healthy happy existence. I’m looking forward to some straight talk, bold business and no nonsense strategies to help you feel and look your best. Sign on for a journey of change as I unveil what I think it takes to succeed at healthy living. I challenge you to take action on what you learn. The best years are yet to come. So let’s get you living those years with vitality, energy, confidence, strength and a peaceful well being that has you smiling from the inside out!

Roy H Williams of the Wizard Academy says “Failure is temporary, so don’t let it scare you”. No matter what you have attempted to do in the past to; improve your fitness, lose weight, reduce stress, eat healthy or get more sleep and failed at it, it’s in the past. So leave it there. It’s time to wipe the slate clean and start anew.

1. Do you really value your health and are you ready to do something about it? If this is you then let’s get started.

2. Buy a notebook or journal. Splurge on a nice one that makes you feel like writing in it! Find a pen that feels good to write with.

3. Make a two hour date with yourself within the next 48 hours. For your date, dress in weather appropriate athletic clothing that you feel good in. lycra is not mandatory! Wear good walking shoes.

4. Get yourself to a cozy café. Order your favourite tea or coffee and settle in with your new notebook, pen and this article.

Answer the following questions and be authentic with your answers.

5. What ideal body and lifestyle do you desire to have? If nothing jumps to mind think of someone who you know or admire from a distance that leads the lifestyle you would like to live?

6. Describe exactly what you see as that lifestyle.

7. What feelings would be brought on by living that lifestyle? List everything that comes to mind Write lots!

The first step to believing you can live a healthy life and have that desired lifestyle and the body that goes with it is to see it. If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.

You now have the destination, lets work on the journey. Goals not written down are just dreams, so back to the notebook.

8. List all of the health related things, you would have to change to be living your destination lifestyle. You’ve just set some goals.

9. Pick three that would have the most impact on achieving your desired body and lifestyle.

10. Under each goal list all the things that you can be doing to get one step closer to that goal becoming realty.

11. Pick one of these goals: Re-read and tweak the action steps.

12. Pack up your gear and walk for 30 brisk minutes before heading back home. While walking, think of that goal and what needs to be done. Whether you think you can or can’t achieve the goal, you are right! You have another 48 hours to take action on that first goal. You are now on the journey of change. Congratulations!

Thanks for sharing your time with us.
