Chicks split adventure

What a terrific turnout tonight! Look at all these happy faces! Much to our surprise the conditions and temperature was fantastic! We had a perfect split between snowshoer’s and xc-skiers!

How great it was to see our mtn. biker ‘chicks’ break snow with us. A great union and some good laughs.
Some encouragement for those of you who are still needing that push out the door.
1. Half the battle is getting to the playing field! Just Go. Don’t think about it, pack the morning of or the night before. When the end of the night rolls around you will love that you came out!
2. If you think you can’t keep up or you will hold ‘chicks’ back, think again. This is a no drop program. We’ll make sure you are having fun, learning, improving fitness and feeling good about any level you may be sitting at.
3. We expect you to be ready to play and each week we hope you don’t assume your limitations: experience them. Get a couple of good hikes, walk/jogs or any other fitness activity in to help improve your overall fitness capacity two other time each week, so that each excursion we can take you just a bit beyond the week before.
4. Footwear is key for comfort. Wear wool socks, solid fitting boots, hiking boots for snowshoeing and well fitted boots for xcs. Some women are having problems with blisters and it has everything to do with your footwear not the snowshoe. Use duck tape over a bandaid on the heel or blistered areas prior to putting your wool ski socks on and that will help prevent further issues next week.
5. Be prepared. we hope to give you the best overall experience out there. your help is appreciated by being loaded and ready to leave Venture Gear promptly @ 5:30pm.
Snowshoe Rentals should be reserved by phone
250-979-4327 prior to our Wednesday night launch, especially if you are certain you are coming. ‘Chicks’ is growing and we would hate to have you show up and not have gear for you. Consider popping in to Venture Gear at lunch that day to pick up your gear. The good news is we’ll get the gear back for you the next day. (man you have it good!)
6. Bring exact change(cash) for pass $5 and pass and rentals $15. This makes the process of getting on the trails so much easier. We will do a head count at the start, we’ll make one transaction and collect all the funds for payment.
7. Bring a friend...you may very well be just the person who, as Laura so eloquently put it last night: “changed my lifestyle right around!”
…and finally, let us know what you think about our program, your experience and anything else that might inspire someone else to ‘chick it out’. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter or comment right here on our blog!
Thank you for your great participation and to our coaches Cory $ Liz our great sponsors: Team Fitness Personal Training, Venture Gear and Quality Greens
See you on the snowy trek next week!
