‘Chicks’ chew off another chunk of traill

The ‘chicks’ keep on coming out for our group ride! A super turnout again. 22! of a mixed breed. Welcome to our newbies; thanks for your energy and tenacity.
Novice riders pursued a big task to climb to the flats and some went back for more Saturday…just for fun! Glad to see you are hooking up for between rides. Remember to ride for fitness twice before we see you on Wednesday. Road or trail to work or to the beach just get on the saddle.
Our intermediates had a brisk paced climb to lost lake, with a pit stop log jumping drill in the middle. Hopefully, the practise came some time this week. Excellent use of ready and attack on descent and a fun finsh on fairlane to take us home!
Thanks to coaches; Cory/ Liz and the fabulous team at Quality Greens and our boys club at Union Cycle who are patient and helpful with the female brain!
Aside from some tired egos, this ride was without incident. Our no drop motto allows for all levels to have an accomplished ride to toleration and we appreciate that everyone remembers they were once a novice rider too. Your encouraging words and example have made this program a success. “Come as you are, no matter where you are and ride the ride you challenge yourself to do!
Speaking of challenges. Your coaches took a good butt kicking as we climbed to the KVR with the roosters on Sunday. Super fun downhill on bailout. I think we are in for a half n half shuttle/climb to KVR. Coming to a July 1st holiday soon. You’ll love it!
This weeks ride May 26th all and any newcomers meet at UNION CYCLE @ 5:45pm. Please introduce yourself to our coaches. Pick up a spare tube, check the air in your tires and see if your seat post can be changed to a quick release!

I didn’t say the solutions were going to be easy to accomplish or that they would like what I said, I just showed them it was doable. Here lies the real challenge. Most of the solutions required a change in habits, thinking and mental state. Moreover, these moms came up with the solutions. I just asked the right questions.
Although I’ve never drank a cup of coffee, my black tea intake in a day is up there with the coffee addicts. Tea is steeped full of health benefits and their role in lowering the risk of heart disease and of a number of types of cancers is now evident. However, there in lies some nasty tanins in our tea. These polyphenol compounds can bind to iron and inhibit its’absorption. Particularly non-hemme (found in everything except red meat) iron.
Banana dogs! Who knew? Need a quick on the go idea for you (and you know who your are) or your child’s breakfast. toast a whole wheat hotdog bun, toss in a banana and smear a tbls of peanut butter on and you’re good to go. Wash it down with a glass of 1/% milk and you’ve covered all basis. let me know if it’s a hit!
No ride is without its mishaps….leaky tires, unexpected climbs for newbies and sure enough a few taking home unforseen soil samples. FYI…we expect many to do so on any given ride. Consider it your initiation to ‘chicks in the sticks’.
At midnight last night, I was not altogether too excited about riding to work @ 6:30am. The past week has been a full one, with time restraints, deadlines and obligations my life ramped up several notches. I’ve felt as though on ’speed’ all week. Fyi, in actuality, i’ve never been on ’speed’. Nonetheless, the thought of dragging myself out earlier than ususal, in the cold, without my mug of piping tetly and oatmeal to go was to say the least an unpleasant one.
