Hydration kills hills!

Thanks to Kim, Cory and Heather who have helped to keep our chicks safe well guided and entertained.

This weeks ride will see cooler temperatures than you experienced last week. A whopping 35 degrees when you are climbing is not my idea of fun. A reminder that we have not had to talk about hydration till this point as we’ve had cooler and wet temperatures till now. So, if you do not have a camel pack, now is the time to fetch one. Heat stroke can easily creep up on you if you are not sipping regularly on the climb. Also, a good idea to drink 8 to 12 ounces an hour before you ride and stay well hydated throughout the day.

Grind the climb but duffed the downhill ~ Coach down for 5 weeks

If you have ever had something take you out of the game, you have a vague idea of what it is like for an avid rider to sit the sidelines. I have to say that the first week down was easy to surrender. There was not much else to do on pain killers, a wounded wing and a hip that was far more of an issue then the 6 pack of stiches holding a gapping wound particularly after the weeks worth of pain killers were pushed aside. Amazing how much the body can take. The break from reality (no pun intended) was a welcome one however, and I thank my amazing team at the studio for taking care of business while I recovered.

The well wishes from clients friend and chicks along with all the care packages were so great and helped feed me physically and emotionally. I had a good 24 hr solid pity party after my day in surgery but I’m through the other side now and looking for all the things I can do rather than drowning in those things I cannot!

So, although my beloved ‘Mexico’ Marin will hang on the hook for another 5 weeks, my legs are free to do as they please. I look forward to hiking the trails that you will ride Wednesday and enjoying a cold stick at the end of it all and sharing in your stories.

Hands Up …Baby Hands Up!

show goes on!

a quick post to let you all know I busted my hand and will be out of creative commission on and off the bike for a bit.

next week i sould be back blogging when i have a proper cast and can keep my arm level, right now it’s more exhausting keeping my arm elevated than the trail that got the best of me! (to be documented soon).

leading your rides however will not be so easily done. we haave 2 more scheduled rides july 7/14- heather and cory will help out with b’s and kimberley and corrine will assist our novice group, thanks gals for helping out!

we then have a summer break scheduled as your coaches take holidays (and timely as i recover) till august 18th we’re back on. that said, by now you have made some connections and can coordinate rides with your new mates and keep that fitness up!

meet union @ 5:45pm
shuttle car pool 6pm
ride departs crawford trailhead 6:30pm

i look forward to hearing about your milestones! be safe and relish each ride!
