The universe was not telling me to slow down!

Okay, I’m tired of hearing that expression.

Girl goes into the woods,
Girl rides up a really steep trail for 90 minutes,
Girl gets caught in a good downpour,
Girl makes her way down some pretty cool terrain for an hour
No, nothing she hasn’t handled before.
Girl gets a little cold, yep, hands are freezing,
Girl has only 10 minutes to the bottom, scurfing right along.
Girl…whoops, bouldery loose section tire washes out…SPLATT to rock face!!
Girl goes down.

It happens….down and queasy close to fainting a few times, not sure why, it really wasn’t that epic of a crash. Back up in 15, hit the saddle, hand is sore, ouch really sore. Challenging to lift the bike up let alone grip the bars. Every bounce theres a wince and a groan. Something doesn’t feel quite right. Bradley (riding partner) wishes to discuss walk-in or emergency x!##@! I’m just holding on for life and apparently limb, small talk ….not into it.

Parking lot, finally. sneak peak at the hip. Fine gash probably need stiches. Glove off, !##@!#! ever so slow. Something still not right. Looks normal, hurts, not so normal. Emergency it is.

The only thing the universe is telling me is if you’re gonna play the game…expect to have some pain.

Drive myself across the bridge, had a little cry. C’mon you would too, damn sore! Bradley convinces me a clean up is a good idea. Ever try to have a shower whilst not getting wet a gaping hip wound?

So, now i’m fresh as a daisy on the outside but feel like i’ve been hit by a mountain(and I was)on the inside. Who showers before going for xrays?

Diagnosis:
6 pack of stiches for gaping hip
percacet for pain and pending surgery for the broken hand (first metacarpal for anyone who cares)where thumb and wrist meet.
Two pins and cast for 6 weeks! Are you kidding!

Oh its just what you need to slow you down!
There it is again.

Well I slowed down and now I’m done. Gone slow and need to get back at it. 7 weeks in I’m sore but no longer broken.

Twas a great season otherwise and hopefully, I’ll manage to sneak in some calculated rides late fall. Till then keep the trails clear for me, till then you’ll find me on a Union Cruiser (heck i’ll take anything with wheels) spinning the streets working my way back to the trails.

Thanks to everyone who helped along the way. Just stop telling me the universe is trying to tell me something!
